The pomegranate (Punica granatum) fruit is a deciduous shrub that can reach 5 to 8 m high and whose fruit is the name of the genus granada.El, Punica derived from the Phoenicians, who were actively extending about its cultivation, partly because religious reasons. The species name granatum derives from the Latin adjective granatus, which means' grain '(because the seeds of the fruit / grana: the weapon Grenada later derive the name of the fruit). However, in classical Latin the species name was malum punicum or malum granatum, where "malum" is apple. This has influenced the name Pomegranate (in English), which is given in many languages (eg German Granatapfel, apple seeds). Even "Pomegranate" has the same meaning; pomum is the Latin name for apple.
Another widespread root for "pomegranate" is the Egyptian and Semitic NMR. Found in ancient Egyptian and in Hebrew Rimmon, and the Arabic Rumman this root in Arabic has grown from many other languages, including Portuguese (Rome).
